On Jun 25, 2017 (Sunday), we woke up early for breakfast (7.00a.m.) as we planned to reach Hintok River Camp, Kanchanaburi by 5.00p.m. (before dark). The breakfast is included in the 2 days 1 night stay at the Palm Sweet Resort, Chumphon. We had the breakfast set (toast served with egg & ham, sausages and salad) and also the Thai rice soup with pork. The breakfast was so so, however, the rice soup caught our attention. Drinks like coffee/ tea and orange juice are served as well.
After checked-out, we leaved for Kanchanaburi. Fyi, Chumphon is a southern Thai province and Kanchanaburi is a province in the west of Thailand. According to Google Maps, the estimated travelling time will be 7 hours 22 mins without traffic and pit stop. So, here comes another long drive. To reach our destination, we actually passed by 3 other province. They are Prachuap Khiri Khan, Phetchaburi and Ratchaburi (2.00p.m.). Along the drive, we didn't stop for lunch at any restaurant. The ONLY place we stopped was gas station. Of course, we chose to stop at the biggest scale gas station (tear-drop). There's where we settled our lunch and bio-break. Even the rice (rice served with chicken basil) sold at 7-Eleven is pretty delicious. Besides, having the fresh-cut fruits is a MUST in Thailand. I personally love the mango and pineapple!
Thank god, the weather that day was good to drive (no heavy rain/ not too hot). I would say Kanchanaburi has one of the most amazing roads in the world you should drive in your lifetime (they have amazing and scenic view along the highway). A stretch of mountain can be seen. Truly amazing!
When we were to reach Hintok River Camp, our destination, I got the chance to climb up the load box of Ford Ranger and enjoy up there for about 15 mins. It was my first time doing that at Thailand (it is a legalised action in Thai). They welcomed us with refreshing drinks and lead us the way to our campsite.
After checked-in, we dipped in the natural spring pool (man made rock pool) overlooking the River Kwai (right next to the pool). At night, we were offered exotic buffet styled BBQ dinner (included in the 3 days 2 nights stay) around the campfire and the canvas tent's front yard. There was about 50 guests (including us) that night and we enjoyed the buffet under the moonlight a lot.
Good night!
